The Akademik Fyodorov, a diesel-electric ice ship, travels to several Russian research stations in Antarctica, braving the threat of icebergs as it journeys across hundreds of miles of open sea. Molodyozhnaya Station only operates during the continent's brief summer, and researchers there will board the Fyodorov for the long trip home. However, the adventure has only begun for the skeleton crews at Progress Station and Novolazerevskaya Station, which will have the responsibility of maintaining everything without additional supplies being delivered during the long, dark winter.
