Oak Flat is a unique area that is considered sacred to the indigenous Apache people. For thousands of years, Oak Flat was a place for spiritual ceremonies and prayer. However, Oak Flat has been under threat of destruction since 2014 when Congress passed legislation that allows transferring the holy site to the foreign mining giant, Resolution Copper, which wants to extract one of the largest untapped copper reserves in North America.
